Phil and Harrison In da Haus…

No, not the rock music duo but two great Midwest mustard makers.

Hundreds of mustard lovers came to the Mustard Museum this weekend to taste all 49 winners of the 2014 World-Wide Mustard Competition.

We were thrilled to have Harrison Kropp (Will’s son) representing Boetje’s Stone Ground Mustard from Rock Island, Illinois. Boetje’s picked up yet another medal — we’ve lost track of how many they’ve won over the years. Boetje’s has become a cult favorite among mustard aficionados. Great grainy texture and a bold kick.

Then to our surprise in walked Phil Sass, maker of Uncle Phil’s Polish Mustard, this year’s Bronze Medal Deli winner. Yes, there really is an Uncle Phil. He’s not my uncle but in the mustard world, he’s everybody’s uncle…
